Once again, the 12 Trigs of Christmas challenge went down to the wire. Long time leader Tom Pape was finally overhauled on the last day as Nicky Spinks increased her score with the additions of Black Hill, Shelf Stones and Sandy Heys during the Trigger race. Both Nicky and Tom had defied the elements (and in Nicky\u2019s case thigh deep tussocks) to visit some remote (and hence high scoring) trig points in the Southern Uplands. A valiant attempt at Ben Macdui was undertaken but was thwarted by the weather conditions \u2013 this could have altered outcome significantly. Last year\u2019s bagging of Ben Alder by Messrs Paxman and Rippon remains unsurpassed as the highpoint of festive trig-bagging.<\/p>\n
At the other end of the leader board the accolade for lowest total from 12 trigs goes to Sam Pole with an eclectic mix of trigs from the Shropshire hills and obscure parts of the East Midlands. Again, Rachel Thorley\u2019s total of 12 points from last year seems like a low point (or high point?) that will be difficult to beat.<\/p>\n
