All the moorland<br \/>\nin the Peak District has protected status, generally as a Site of Special<br \/>\nScientific Interest (SSSI) and NNR\u2019s are regarded as the very best examples of<br \/>\na particular landscape. Although there\u2019s a lot of jargon here, this does remind<br \/>\nme that we have on our doorstep some of the most important and highly protected<br \/>\nland in the country, where we generally have very good access. The message<br \/>\nabout Kinder is clear, the landowner and governing body recognise the<br \/>\nimportance that free and open access will continue. However it does appear that<br \/>\nthis protected status will not extend to the grouse population and shooting<br \/>\nwill continue as before.
