Shooting estate closures meant a rejig of the schedule was required in mid-May.

After Saturday’s windy but cooking weather everyone was a bit shocked by the chillier feel as we assembled. Nonetheless, the rain stayed off and the temperature picked up as the session got underway.

Jenny C stepped in to lead the older group, ably supported by Mark W.

The younger group was very small – with just three regulars and a somewhat reluctant Alex, son of the leader. Led by Lewis

Both groups raced to the summit of Mam Tor; to what was largely a draw. Whilst the older group went off to cover more ground and do some ecological fieldfield – in the form of cairn trundling, the younger group headed straight down the steep grassy direct descent. Great fun!

Ethos

The ethos of the Sunday runs, is largely about having adventures and going for a run. There are a large number of running opportunities for kids in and around Sheffield. They all have varying characteristics, whether that be high intensity training, or navigation, or in the case of Dark Peak: hills and adventure.

For the younger group, this is a bit more like playing games in wild places, but the older group are always keen to get out there and not dally too much in one place.

Summer Term

We still have some leader gaps in the calendar for this term.
