James reports… “Finally mustered the courage to give it a go. Had always told myself I would do it in good weather, well slept, well trained and with minimal fuss. Kept it simple going (nearly) self-supported with endurance machine Dr Watson. The weather also worked out after we pushed it back 24 hours with an amazing sunset and glorious sunshine (minus a cold headwind overnight). The 6.30pm start definitely didn’t suit me and soon lack of training (largely due to beer consumption) started to tell. Went into a hole on Leg 3 and needed a sit down at Wasdale and lots of patient nagging from Lisa to get going again. Found some energy out of nowhere and got it done in 22.56. Thanks to Lisa for joining me for the day out and Lova for giving us some company on Leg 1. Lots of R&R needed but I’m a very happy chap!”

Congratulations also to Laurence Piercy who last weekend achieved the second completion of the Tyndrum Round, Pete Davies’s creation in the Southern Highlands.
