I’m sure minutes will be published in due course, but in the interim here is my very personal and totally biased account of salient parts of proceedings:

The Committee resolved to put on some training courses for members, once it is achievable. These will be:

A Mountain First Aid course – a formal course to provide attendees with a recognised qualification. Numbers will be limited by the teaching ratio dictated by the provider.

A Mountain Skills course – an informal course. Similar to those provided a few years ago to members. We will be seeking teachers / leaders for this.

Navigation course – whether its a day, or weekend has yet to be agreed. We are hopeful that someone will volunteer to run this. So please do volunteer if you have the skills.

David Holmes is keen to see new blood in the running of the club and would be more than happy to hand on his directors role to a younger charge. Dave has been involved in the running of the club since the beginning of recorded time (or at least since the last time the clock batteries were changed). I think this offer should be seen as a very generous message of support for the continued flourishing of the club. So please do step forward to fill these pretty exceptional shoes! Especially if you consider yourself to be younger than average for the club.

The AGM was tentatively scheduled for the first Wednesday in May (5th). This is likely to be outdoors. The key determining factor will be number limits for gatherings. Provisions will be discussed at the next committee meeting in late March.

Dark Peak News – there is a desperate desire to bring back this institution. We have an Executive Editor and a Technical Layout Editor, but we desperately need an actual Editor to do the chasing and collation of articles. The ambition is to have a scaled down issue for this return to service. Please do step forward if you are able to spare a bit of time for stories a bit longer than 280 characters.

Edale Skyline – After a number of years holding the reins, Gavin is stepping down from the formal role of Race Organiser (the leader of a hugely competent team). So we are looking for a new race organiser for 2022. It would be great to have the race return after these fallow years with a new look and a new organiser. Again, please do step forward if you can.

It would be great to see new faces involved in these things as the club springs back into action as soon as we are able.

Stay safe, stay apart and stay well.

Cheers,

Lewis

Lewis writes… The first Committee Meeting of the year was held tonight.
