So it was, the damp freezing over icily on the top parts. Things improved, though : it warmed up, cleared through and the later parts found the best part of the day. Judith thrived on this long thing, just under 8hrs, 5th, and 1st Mixed team. Greg and Donna safely round – sorry if I’ve missed the others, please help out!
So here comes Lewis’ account:- “The weather started out chill, but after dropping off Helvellyn, the conditions were near perfect for the rest of the day. Not too hot and not too cold – a race for Goldie Locks? Debbie and I made it round in 11:08 – despite the shoe seller’s shoes giving out before Cockley Beck. Rob Cole and Bob Johnston made it round in something like 10:45 – a terrific effort from Rob, especially for pushing on when the wheels fell off on the climb of Grey Friar. When we crossed on Swirl How, Greg looked to be going well, but Donna proclaimed to be having a near death experience. It was a well organised race. Even at the back end of the field, all the check points that matter still have food and drink left and this was with a record turn out. My compliments to the organisers. For such a major undertaking it was a real surprise to see how few people had maps out and were prepared to follow others, often on some pretty ropey lines.”

New Dungeon Ghyll:- results. An AS classic if ever there is one. 2100ft, 3.5miles. Getting up to Harrison Stickle was on paths, except the last grassy bit. Getting round and back down was ideal for wandering around, and that was in the clear….

Eyam Half Marathon – results.
Shining Tor – results. No clubs are listed, only Counties, so please let us know if you’ve been missed off.

Scottish Islands Peaks Race:- Not some Mediterranean cruise for these folk, we await news with interest…. Rhys helps out:- “pleased to report that myself and Will Spain have survived the Scottish Islands Peak Race, claiming 3rd overall behind two multi-hulls, and we were first monohull. More importantly, we crushed the all-Pennine team by a monstrous 65 seconds cumulative time over the 4 runs. That’s over a second a mile! Joe Symonds and Robbie Simpson broke 3 records – Slipway, Mull, and overall.
