The MR were monitoring the wind which averaged 65 MPH! with one gust topping 94MPH. Always a great race but this year I found the first climb very tough but I imagine so did every one, mind you the first descent was even harder….Never before have I had to run so hard down hill just produce a fast walking pace. The heavy rain of the last few days produced some memorable bogs, I’ve not seen Cut Gate that wet for years.
Well done to Tom Brunt and Nicky Spinks first placed man and woman, Jon Morgan 2nd, Dark Peak first Male Team. Nicky’s effort was particularly good as even the big lads were struggling to stay on their feet. Another good effort from Willy who just kept grinding it out. Lots of support on the hill from the Rescue Team and loads of food at the finish” – from Ian.

Charnwood Hills – results . Rob Jebb was straight to the fore, and never got headed, just ran the whole way to the summit. I was 2nd in 22.14, think Jebby did just under 20. Will unleashed a trademark headbanging descent to overhaul a lot of places and came in 17th, just ahead of first lady Emma Clayton who he passed on the down. Just us two and Lucy (Pennine) there.”

Loughrigg-Silver Howe – Looking on the Ambleside website for the Wansfell results, I find “Sunday 20th February – 12 Noon. 8m/2500’ – Route to include Liliy Tarn checkpoint, so a perfect chance to test out what will be a championship race in June! Registration from 10.30am at Ambleside Rugby Club”

Margery Hill
Carding Mill Canter – results. Anyone else fancy it on the 2nd July, it’s on-line entry only and fills up very quick. I’m entered…”

Edale Skyline – Substitutions:- very simply, there are none. The organiser accepts more entries than the race limit, presuming that the inevitable withdrawals will bring the numbers down to the accepted limit. Sneaky substitutions just aren’t allowed, lest there is no knowing who is up on the hills should a mishap occur.
DT - These are the Skyline rules, and everyone should abide by them…The February Fellrunner will have details of a recent 3 month ban from a recent breaking of Rule 7, Calendar page 113.

Spyke’s Munros:-“You may or may not know Spyke and about his record breaking round last year. He’s not one to blow his own trumpet but will be giving a rare talk at Hathersage Memorial Hall on 3 rd March. The talk will include some background to what turned an ordinary Essex boy into a mountain muncher, featuring the Abu Dablam, Base-Camp to Kathmandu record breaking epic and some stunning pictures. I think this talk might appeal to you and anyone who shares a passion for hills, mountains and beautiful places.” – from Judith… details etc

Mickleden Straddle :- results . “Mickleden broke 2 records this year, The biggest turn out with 196 and the highest wind speed.
