Weather was great for this 20 mile trail from Fairholmes down to the Robin Hood. A good day out was had by all, raising money for EMRT, although I note that despite a 10am start not everyone had finished by 6pm – note there were walkers, climbers and mountain bikers all involved as well as runners. Results for the winning places are attached. Not too many DPFR there. I will forward a link to the full results when they are up on EMRT’s website. "
Need to wait a while – “ They won’t be on the EMRT website for a while because their webmaster is on holiday.”

Three Peaks Bike Race:- with a win for Nick Craig, ahead of Rob Jebb. Lynn sends:- “3 Peaks cyclo cross was apparently a battle from start to finish (I was still going up Pen y Gent when I heard Nick had won!) with Rob Jebb arriving first at all the summits and Nick Craig passing him on the descents. Loads of photos and a report . Me, Darrell, Kev Saville, Anne Beresford and Hilary Bloor all took part along with loads of other fell runners. It was a good day out but I have to say bikes really aren’t meant for carrying up hills!!”

Saturday.
RAB Mountain Marathon – Howgills “It may be a family affair (what with Rich organising it, numerous members of the family helping out and me running it) but I have to say that this years RAB MM was a cracker! The weather was fantastic with wall to wall sunshine on Saturday following a foggy early morning start. Sunday was overcast, some clag on the tops and with a bit of a breeze making it better for running. The courses were excellently planned and challenging with lots of scope for route choice – most of which involved a slog up one of the numerous steep sided valleys! The overnight camp on a nice dry grassy field (next to the Cross Keys Temperance Inn) was just a small car journey up the road from the start in Sedbergh but about a 26 mile journey for the Elite runners (and probably not much less for everybody else). Day 2 was a return trek over much of the same ground from the previous day but with some dummy controls thrown in meaning that route planning the night before was pointless. Lots of Dark Peakers competing and some good results in all classes. Dave and I used it as a warm up for the OMM but wished we hadn’t shown Stewart Bellamy where 3 controls were that had rubbed off his map – it cost us 3rd place! Simon P “

And:- “At last, the Lake District Mountain Trial Committee (minus me because I have resigned – although not because of this!) have finally seen sense and awarded the 3rd Men’s team prize to Dark Peak (Matt, Gavin and Me). I will collect your prize vouchers for you lads at the Hodgsons.
