Hot day, suncream applied liberally (yet still not liberally enough according to a patch on my left shoulder) and water was at a premium. Steady start, working way through field up to CP 1 then ran the most part with a local V40 and an eagle-eyed ERYRI V50 (he claimed he saw some cheating going on ahead – I saw nowt, and it was denied upon interrogation!), who were shifting a bit on the flat but I had them on any ascent or descent. Eventually, the long undulating (and slightly boring albeit the views) ridge towards the final CP took its toll on my legs and I dropped off the back of these two, and dragged my carcass in a few minutes behind after a most undignified hobble down the final slope. A sit down in the reservoir sorted my legs out, as did a pint and a curry in the pub. Good day out, the first part round to Pen Y Fan was the highlight with some sheer cliff edge running, and monster ravens circling overhead.”

Round Latrigg:- For Phil, “Yet another jaunt around my new Rivelin\\Burbage. Slightly further than the classic Latrigg Race. Goes up the usual Skiddaw track to the carpark, then follows a line behind Latrigg, followed by a loooong descent and a flat effort to the finish. Ashley Kay was present – so not the only DPer for a change. Didn’t have long to spare racing as Helen is having a baby!, so a race 2 mins from the front door was permitted and I needed a to exercise my Latrigg demons after the appalling trial race 2 weeks earlier.
Ricky Lightfoot 30:49
Phil Winskill 31:27
Ashley Kay 45ths

Jura on Youtube – a review of this classic race…

Ricky’s Race results – from ages back, it seems.

Denis Stitt results

Summer Series (11) “We missed the rain and got a lovely evening for the Gusset Race which Mark Harvey won (by knowing the best lines!). ” The final race is the Crashout Direct, 14th September.

Sedbergh:- results. 1st Team and also 2nd Team – some big achievement, and first everything for Nicky. An excellent turnout, which was well noticed. Very wet at times, clag around, but not too bad. Carshare met with a slippy boulder in the 2nd stream crossing, got to the Calf track and walked home, missing Winder. This Full Body Cover – often not needed, but I put the lot on coming back over The Calf, hat, gloves, food, bottoms, essential to take it for when things go wrong.
