For the 2K flat bit in the pond I expected the ice bucket effect we had in Derwent Water 3 weeks ago, but after 800m it felt good,’breathtaking’ views of the fells to be visited later and moving up the field [or lake], reached the shore, stood up, fell over,no blood in the legs! 45.12mins inc transition, [winner 37.42 but others faster]. Onto the bike 42mile 7500ft, Wrynose, Hardknott,Birker Fell [long drag] and Kirkby Moor then back to Coniston Hall campsite 3hr 51.59 [could do better boy] but roadside maintenance slowed me sir,[winner 2hr 55.24]. The run is basically the Coniston fell course with added 2.5mile [to and from the campsite]. I passed 5 runners including 2 that were 1hr ahead [they couldn’t find Wetherlam,it was a clear day, fast on bike, lost on fell].
I was19th at 7hr 32.37 – 1st V50 [other V50 dnf ]
winner Colin Moses Bingley 5hr 44.54,
7dnf and 3 didn’t click the Old Man CP.
Fantastic day out ,hope to do it again. “
   DT – indeed a right proper Triathlon….

Ennerdale:- Marvellous help from Nicky, to send the results through. “A good turnout for Ennerdale despite lots of other races and a bad weather forecast. Most of the bad weather had moved south and for much of the race it was clear but with a cold wind. The rocks were extremely slippery and it was nice to reach Haycock and some grassy running at last. The clag came down over Green Gable and Pillar resulting in a few navigational errors!”
BUT – seems like 1st Men’s Team. Great stuff, everyone. For getting the DPFR travellers into the right places. And with a win at Duddon, now at Ennerdale – does this take the Lakeland Classics? I’ll look out for the Series Results.
And well done to Nicky, 4th Lady, but 1st LV40.
DT – such a big help when the results are sent through – these from Nicky, and Tansley copied down by Martyn Goodwin.

Stretton Hills . Results. So much hard work gone into the event, but it was cold and rained throughout . Not being high hills, and short, not that serious, and very well marshalled and flagged , so no route problems. A shame that new visitors to Shropshire didn’t see how good a place this is.
Men – 2nd (81pts) and just, just pipped by Pudsey(75pts). We could have won that……
    Vets – first.
    V50 – 4th, behind Pennine, Clayton and Mercia…
Ladies – we had one! Much debated on the FRA forum before it crashed(It’s still down) to pretty much universal condemnation. The climbers forum is a bit more heated.
