There were something like 9 teams in the HPM with at least 1 DP member running. Apart from some rain early on we were pretty lucky with the weather but mist on Derwent Edge made it really tricky running in the dark. We had to send Phil down from Edale Cross with the mountain rescue due to him not being able to see anything, but having meandered across Kinder with him and enjoyed a cuppa with the girls at the Edale cross checkpoint we had a pleasant (?) jog to the finish in the sun. Star performances by Nicky and her team and the DP ladies who did it 40 minutes faster than last year.

In Comments, anther report from Kirsty, which needs to be read….

From Nicky:- “I’ll just report that I think the conditions were the best we had although the bogs were boggy. The clag kept us on our toes as it would be clear one second and thick clag the next – it was compasses out all night and day! Our team had a good run and came in 4th and 1st Mixed Team. Steve Mathews Team ((Mahogany Ridge Fell Runners) were 10 minutes behind us in 6th. Dark Peak Ladies beat their own record coming in 9th in 10.42 hours then after that lots more teams with DPFR members. I think there will be lots of interesting stories about navigation, bogs, contact lenses and the like – of which I don’t know all the facts!”

Black Combe Results – Al Ward helps out, with “Weather was lousy, freezing cold rain in your face round the head of the valley, everyone cold and shivering like. Thick as a bag above about 200m – my saving grace. Couldn’t keep up with Scoffer, the big hairy one and quite a few others up the first climb. Followed Andy Preedy for a bit, got lost, got the pointy thing out, followed it, found myself first at the top at the last control, (oops a daisy, everyone else got lost too!) Scoffer thrashed past me on the way down but the Dark Side got 2nd and 3rd. Must be said, Robinson’s running rather well – could frighten a few this year (and not just with his coiffure!) Took a lad from Tidser up with us, Rich Hunt – his first proper race. Ran really well to finish 24th (if he’d joined up before the race we’d have got the first team)”

Half Tour of Pendle Results:- Photos Some clag as we drove over, but gratefully it cleared, and a good trip round. At last some soft, unfrozen ground to set loose on. Seems that the race was decided on that steep drop into Ogden Clough, with Ian Holmes gapping enough to set sights on home, I make it 20 runners – thanks to you all for representing. The Teams were in the mix – things in the Vets seem to have stepped up a notch from last year,
Looking at the Results, I make it 2nd Seniors, 2nd V40, 2nd V50 – ….Someone to check this out?
