Very firm conditions and a bit of an Arctic blast along the northern edge. A few walkabouts today, including the race organiser!

Auld Lang Syne Results.- Mick Stenton and Matt “went to Auld Lang Syne today, very foggy hard and frosty ground, not like Stoops : a fast race new record 38-57 Andi Jones, Mick was 32nd in 45-43 and Matt was 52nd in 46-46 both won a prize beer and chocolates and the bottle of beer. There were a few difficulties with the black and white photocopy of the map but that was more than balanced by the pie and peas at the finish and a prize list almost as long as the entry list.

Chevin Chase, very sharp up the front end ….indeed it was, with the Brownlee brothers at the front, following on from their fastest Leg 4 at Calderdale. Put out by Calder Valley, but not in the Calendar. It started from the Calderdale Leg5/6 changeover, a bit of that downhill relay leg, but then fields, tracks, woods all around somewhere. Well marked throughout, no chance of getting lost. 50p entry, no prizes and no facilities, which seemed to be most acceptable. A long way from Sheffield, unless it could be slipped in with a visit nearby. But recommended for any travellers for next year.

Stretton Hills – English Championship.- Many thanks to Graham McAra, who has sent through this map.
