Alas Dr Bob had to disappoint the Dark Peaker who sent him it. <span style=\"yes;\">\u00a0<\/span>It seems it is an urban myth that started as an email in 2000 and was picked up by lazy\/ unscrupulous journalists <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/urbanlegends.about.com\/library\/weekly\/aa072600a.htm\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">(About.com Urban Legends)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"small;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">On the other hand there are stories that may be true but we might wish were not.<span style=\"yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Don\u2019t you hate those runners who listen to music during races? <span style=\"yes;\">\u00a0<\/span>A study which does appear to exist, or at least appears as a <span style=\"yes;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brunel.ac.uk\/news\/pressoffice\/cdata\/costas+run+to+the+beat\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">press release<\/span><\/a><span style=\"small;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\"> on Brunel University\u2019s web site, claims that listening to music can increase endurance by 15%. <span style=\"yes;\">\u00a0Personally I&#8217;d rather run 15% slower.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Some stories are just too good to be true and this is one.
