
  
{"id":2203,"date":"2008-09-15T18:53:52","date_gmt":"2008-09-15T18:53:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dpfr.org.uk\/wp_dpfr\/?p=2203"},"modified":"2008-09-26T18:26:50","modified_gmt":"2008-09-26T18:26:50","slug":"","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dpfr.org.uk\/wp_dpfr\/2203","title":{"rendered":"Weekend 20th\/21st September"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amblesideac.org.uk\/3shires_2008_results.htm\">Three Shires Results<\/a><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dpfr.org.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/mbrowell1.jpg\">Madeira Island Ultra Trail<\/a> (Short course 53km) <\/font>Mike Browell &#8211; 12\/30 in 11 hours 18 mins, first Brit and 2<sup>nd<\/sup> MV50.<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8220;The race takes in the main mountain summits and some scary paths with huge drop-offs, luckily hidden by thick mists and enlivened by heavy rain and strong cross winds.&nbsp; Typical British weather conditions flummoxed most of the racers who are more used <font color=\"#0000ff\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dpfr.org.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/mbrowell1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"0px\" height=\"145\" alt=\"mbrowell1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dpfr.org.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/mbrowell1-thumb.jpg\" width=\"97\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/font>to sub-tropical conditions.&nbsp; There were a lot of DNFs.&nbsp;&nbsp; Great event, highly recommended to endurance runners.&#8221; <br \/>DT &#8211; here&#8217;s one of Mike&#8217;s photos, looks a bit steep to me, more will be on DPFR photos&#8230;and also within <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.fellrunner.org.uk\/showthread.php?t=5081&amp;highlight=madeira+island+trail\">FRA Forum<\/a> <\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.runbg.co.uk\/Winter%20Mondays.htm\">Winter Mondays<\/a>:- <font color=\"#000000\">Sorry, I forgot to mention this, off to a very good start, 11 participants setting off at various times. Congratulations to the organisers for putting on a top show; a good time was held by all.&#8221;<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; DT &#8211; typical Ireland &#8211; they always seem to put out superb races. Congratulations to all!<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><span>Peris Horseshoe.&nbsp; <font color=\"#000000\">Gavin helps, with &#8220;<\/font><\/span><\/font>A lovely day in Snowdonia for the Peris Horseshoe. Lloyd first back in 3.20, John Hunt second in 3.33, Alan Ward sixth and myself and David Harrison making up the Dark Peak numbers further down the field. Jackie Lee first lady in 3.49 &#8211; yet another impressive L&amp;J double act. Thanks to Ian and John for the lift &#8211; though getting to Penistone for 7 am proved an interesting logistical challenge!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fellrunner.org.uk\/results\/race08\/dalehead08.html\">Dale Head Results<\/a><\/font>:- Wot&#8217;s come over Matt these days? After10th place at Three Shires, he comes along with 5th at this race, behind winner Jonny Bland. What&#8217;s the secret then, Matt? Two excellent results!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fellrunner.org.uk\/results\/race08\/goodshepherd08.txt\">Good Shepherd Results<\/a>&nbsp; with a flier from Mick Cochrane&#8230;.( but Carshare wonders if he&#8217;s in the running for Best Allotment Holder&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fellrunner.org.uk\/results\/race08\/simonside08.html\">Simonside<\/a>:- was wondering where Joe was, up North, and 4th &#8211; 51:49mins.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.man.ac.uk\/temples-bin\/hc.pl?a=list&amp;d=hc&amp;f=lantern-pike-2008\">Lantern Pike Results<\/a>&#8211;&nbsp; and a huge, huge field of 269 runners&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stanagestruggle.co.uk:80\/\">Stanage Struggle Results<\/a>&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><span>Three Shires<\/span><\/font> &#8211; <font color=\"#0000ff\"><span>&nbsp; <font color=\"#000000\">Ambleside excelled in putting on the race, though the conditions were so good that<\/font> <font color=\"#000000\">their problems seemed far distant<\/font>. <font color=\"#000000\">Clear warm skies, a dry field to sit on afterwards, slippy and wet as we went round. A most scenic walk in from the impressive Hodge Close quarries, a right useful picnic site&#8230;, not such a welcome walk back afterwards though. A bit of mist on Swirl How sent some runners to Grey Friars, but clear, soggy and well pathed off Blisco to that horrible drop to Blea Tarn. Usually we follow the flags off Lingmoor, a bit of doubt trying to find the paths home through the quarries.<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; One more Lakeland Classic to go, <font color=\"#0000ff\">Langdale<\/font> , <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dpfr.org.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/langdale.htm\">Route Notes<\/a>&nbsp; pre-entry.<br \/> Mike &#8211; 7th, Janet maintaining her excellent Series results with 10th, Matt&#8217;s best result of the year?&nbsp; with 11th.&nbsp; Most pleasing result was Richard Hopkinson&#8217;s 3rd V60 prize!<\/font><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><span><font color=\"#000000\"><font color=\"#0000ff\">Lost and Found!!<\/font> :-&nbsp; &#8220;<\/font><\/span><\/font>Jane and Bob from Penistone Footpath Runners would be most grateful for any assistance from Dark Peak members living in Crookes\/Walkley areas of Sheffield in the location of our missing cat. He is Joe &#8211; 15 years old short haired no collar &#8211; black with a white bib and paw tips &#8211; went missing from St Anthony Road, Crookes Sunday 15th Sept. If anyone has seen a lost looking soul like this whilst out running\/whatever we would really like them to contact us. As it&#8217;s been a week now this area could extend to Loxley\/Stannington?
