There were 600 runners, some in shorts and vest, who ended up running in 10cm of snow. Several people collapsed from the cold and exhaustion, and two died. Dry and clear all the way round, wet in the Seatallan bogs due to the heavy rain, but at least the streams were full and no shortage of water. All that’s needed is to pile it on after Sty Head, but for most of us that’s where the tiredness sets in. Hot food and cakes included at the finish, it’s the place to be as a test of real fell running – at it’s very best. <br \/>John, Joe, Mike and Janet took the team prize, DT and Mick Cochrane brought home the V60’s, Nicky – 2nd LV40.<br \/> The Ladies race was a right ding-dong, by all accounts, with Janet and Jackie close throughout, until a truce was declared somewhere and they finished together – both 7mins better than Jackie’s previous record.
