Deja vu, Groundhog Day, call it what you like; the weather is once again conspiring to make successful completion of the Bradfield Boundary Run look extremely unlikely on Saturday. Intelligence from people who’ve been up high today suggests two feet of snow or more at 2,000ft, plus severe drifting. There’s a weather warning of ice and possible further snow showers into tomorrow morning, and the possibility of further light snow in the early hours of Saturday. The Snake and the Woodhead are both shut. Temperatures at altitude will not rise much above freezing. We are unlikely to get vehicles up to the Westend. While we may be able to get support vehicles as far as Langsett and Fairholmes, the likelihood of runners getting round all 48 miles in anything like 12 hours is low. We could be out well into Saturday night.

I hate to be defeatist, but having consulted some of our support team this evening, I think it’s fair to say that the consensus is towards cancellation again unless we see a transformation of the weather outlook overnight. I’m torn between prudence on the one hand and the spirit of adventure on the other, but there comes a point when the spirit of adventure veers into foolhardiness. We’ll announce a final decision on the DP website and on the Facebook groups NO LATER THAN 7PM TOMORROW, so please check then, but at the moment it’s odds-on that BBR Mk3 is sadly going the way of its predecessors.

Dave H

Well, here we go again.
