Commiserations to Jim and Keith on their heroic failure to conquer the Ramsay this weekend.\u00a0 It seems slightly absurd to claim the weather was just too good, but rest assured the hottest day of the year in the Glens is not the one to attempt this big round in a big landscape.\u00a0 Jim worked hard across leg one – I can attest to him leaving me for dead within a minute off the Ben – but suffered in the heat on the climbs and bailed on the descent into Fersit.\u00a0 Keith characteristically battled around to the bothy at Meanach, by which time he was more than two hours down against schedule, where he settled for sausage and bean stew over a futile attempt to make up this time over the Mamores, on what would have proved an equally hot second morning.\u00a0 A very brave effort by both, with the support left struggling in their wake on more than one occasion; and most definitely not an endeavour to be taken lightly!<\/p>\n
