The ‘New’ Route will be used in 2026 staying on the Longshaw estate and Grindleford Valley<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Distance = 7.1km (4.4miles) with 237m (777ft) of climb (BS)<\/p>\r\n\r\n

<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Longshaw Sheepdog Trials is Britain’s oldest sheepdog trials, the fell race has been running in association with the trials for the last 20 years. Entry to the race gets you free entry to the sheepdog trials with a beer tent, hot food, a spitfire flyover (sometimes) and grandstand seating to the dog trials!<\/p>\r\n\r\n

2025 had a new route to avoid clashes with other races on the day in Burbage. The 2026 will be on the ‘new’ route touring the best parts of the Longshaw Estate and Grindleford Valley with fewer road crossings. very slightly shorter and less climb overall but some tricky descents and tough ascents.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Entry to the race grants you access to the Sheepdog Trials Event however any spectators wanting to enter the sheepdog trials event (where the start and finish are held) will need to hold a ticket either purchased on the day or in advance for a reduced price direct from the sheepdog trials event here>\u00a0 https:\/\/www.longshawsheepdog.com\/ . <\/a><\/p>\r\n

The majority of the route is on publicly accessible paths and there are plenty of places to watch the runners without entering the sheepdog trials event.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
