Odin Mine Race on Wednesday 17th October 2012

This year's (slightly modified) route was:

Start and Finish at Odin Mine (SK 134835)
CP1 Mam Tor (SK 128836)
CP2 Lords Seat (SK 112834)
CP3 Road Junction (SK 114847) via stile at SK109840
CP4 Mam Tor "via ramparts"

Organiser's Report:
Excellent run by John Boyle and grand turn out-the revised route seemed to be acceptable. I was given an article about the miners ,from 1862-saying "Come Fellows"drink-drink drink your fill,Full soon we must gang up the hill-Where Odin rich in shining ore--
i think this must have referrred to supping up in Castleton--we seemed to have done it the other way round. The article talks of women miners -who are described as--complete harridans-even in their muddy outfits and attire i dont think Kirsty,Penny,Lucy and Sarah could be desribed in such a manner.
A very tough race -with lots of climbing---a contrast to the next Night race-14 th November at Fairholme-which will be visiting Poynton bog -as usual-but clockwise this time
cp1 John field Howden-north top 189903 cp2 Trig backtor 198910 cp3 ruin cabin Cogman clough 185922 cp4 hancock wood pond 176907 s/f at the cars.As usual 6-45 and 7 pm start and run in any formation[solo/pairs etc]
